The word "carnation" is believed to have originated from the words "coronation" or the Greek "corone," as it was commonly used to festoon Greek ceremonial crowns. The meanings behind carnations include fascination and devoted love.

They come in a lovely variety of colors including pastels, vibrant shades and even very deep hues, such as eggplant purple and crimson red. Carnations are especially pretty when arranged close together as a round "kissing ball" to be displayed at weddings or special events.
